Planning A Luxury Resort Belize Vacation

By Patrick Perry

Are you someone who reads about and watches celebrities traveling to exotic places, basking in the sun and sand, the enjoying every amenity an exclusive retreat can offer? If so, a luxury resort Belize vacation is something you might aspire to for yourself. It boasts an amazingly azure blue coastline, famous Caribbean beaches, and incredible glimpses into ancient civilizations. It can also provide you with an underwater adventure like no other, if that is the sort of thing that interests you.

For those unfamiliar with the area, this country boasts an ancient culture, one steeped in Mayan tradition. The civilization walked the beaches and built their immense cities right where you will be touring if you travel to this destination. The Mayan culture is well known to archaeology buffs, art historians, and international explorers. Anyone who is interested in how these fascinating people lived, worked, and prayed will be delighted by all the region has to offer. It also a plus that most current citizens speak excellent English.

The Mayan ruins are a must see during your visit. At one time it was believed that this country was at the edge of the Maya's culture, but more recent excavations have revealed that, at one time, it was at the center. If you are new to this area, taking advantage of the tours may be the best idea.

The site at Carcacol proves that point. It is one of the biggest and most discussed sites in the country. Excellent early examples of hieroglyphics show up all over the place. They can be found on walls, altars, and building facades. Some of the symbols will probably look familiar to you if you ever studied Egypt in school.

Xunantunich is more evidence that sophistication and brilliance are at the heart of this ancient culture. If you have a chance, you must spend as much time as possible touring this awe inspiring site. The gigantic friezes alone are worth studying extensively in an attempt to decipher any sense of their meaning. Touring this remarkable city will give you a new appreciation of how our ancient ancestors thrived during their time.

Those who are passionate about diving will tell you the Great Blue Hole is a kind of mecca for them. This geographical wonder is a giant submarine sinkhole that is found directly off Lighthouse Reef in the Caribbean waters. Divers are allowed to explore the depth of this hole and marvel at the intricacy and wonder that just gets more unimaginable the deeper you go.

The Blue Hole is just a small section of Belize's barrier reefs, formally known as the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, the largest such system in the northern hemisphere. This is a dream destination for diving and marine life enthusiasts. While it is critical to maintain the integrity of the area, you can respectfully explore the hundreds of coral species, the amazing variety of fish and other aquatic life that inhabits the reefs.

After a hard day of exploring, you can return to your luxury suites to rest and relax. You might take a dip in the pool, eat a fantastic meal, and then settle down to enjoy some world class entertainment. It all sounds just perfect.
