It Is Great To Sponsor African Child

By Melissa Thomas

One should think of all the little children suffering in the world's poorest continent. They are beautiful and innocent babies. War and HIV AIDS have orphaned most of them. The most reasonable thing to do is to sponsor African child, in any way possible. One can choose to contribute some money. In addition, non-monetary contributions are usually welcomed.

The ironies of the world are perplexing. While others are having merry, some are dying. The children of rich countries enjoy the niceties of life but their counterparts in Africa bear with a sad reality that often involves going to bed hungry, failing to have an education, not being immunized on time and even sleeping on the streets.

Children are the backbone of any society. They are the future doctors, teachers, engineers, and even presidents. The most important possession of Africa is her children. Unfortunately, most of them seem not to have a viable future. In fact, some even die before their teens because of easily preventable diseases. A majority will end up illiterate because of their parents not having money to take them to school.

Orphans are a vulnerable section of society. This is because they do not have parents. Many children in Africa are orphans because of the effects of war. There are organizations that are committed to cater for this class of people. These organizations need money to continue with their operations. One can pick a reputable organization and support it, in any manner.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to money. When a humanitarian group is bankrupt, it will no longer be able to operate in Africa and this will leave many people in a bad position. Therefore, individuals should strive to make monetary contributions. There is no minimum threshold. One simply contributes according to his financial ability. Those who have more are encouraged to give more.

It starts with one person rising up to the occasion and making a contribution. One should not keep quiet about his contribution but should spread the message to as many people as possible. It is good to encourage family members and friends to also contribute. One needs to have a convincing argument so that to win the hearts and minds of other people.

A single person has limited abilities. There is a maximum amount he can contribute. Also, he cannot be present in all African countries to offer much needed help. That is why the collective effort of many western citizens is needed. There is need for volunteers and also financiers. The great humanitarian organizations of the present age will do their job well if they are supported by all and sundry.

Supporting African children is simply making a powerful humanitarian statement. It is acknowledging that no child deserves to suffer irrespective of where he comes from. The supported children usually end up progressing in life and some of them end up in top positions in society. When they become great, they will always remember the help they received and they will gladly extend their hands toward helping other needy and vulnerable members of society.
